About the project
First Step Foundation presents Project Sakhi, an initiative focused on promoting menstrual hygiene, dignity, awareness, and environmental responsibility among girl students in government schools.
The project aims to reach approximately 2,700 girl students across nine government primary schools in East Delhi through a focused intervention combining menstrual hygiene awareness, distribution of reusable Green Period Kits, and installation of sanitary pad vending machines. Through interactive awareness sessions, demonstrations, educational activities, and discussions, the initiative seeks to build awareness around menstrual health, address misconceptions, and encourage safe and sustainable hygiene practices. Each identified beneficiary will receive a reusable Green Period Kit, while a sanitary pad vending machine will be installed in every participating school to ensure continued access to menstrual hygiene products.
Teachers will also be oriented to support the upkeep of the facilities and sustain awareness within the school community. With an emphasis on long-term benefits through reusable hygiene products and continued school-level access, Project Sakhi aims to create an environment where every girl can experience menstruation with confidence, knowledge, and dignity.
Partnership Opportunity
First Step Foundation invites CSR partners and organisations to collaborate in advancing menstrual dignity, girls’ well-being, and sustainable menstrual hygiene practices.
